Our detailed level guide

FIND YOUR LEVEL: A HELP, NOT A DRAWER

Mountain biking is individual. Every biker has their own story, their own strengths and their own personal challenges. That's why this level guide is just that: a guide.

We don't want to pigeonhole you. Rather, we want to give you an honest assessment so that you can find the right offer for you - an offer that challenges you but doesn't overwhelm you. An offer that will bring you maximum fun and learning success.

The boundaries between the levels are fluid. You may already be an expert on bends, but still have respect for drops. That's completely normal!

Our promise: We will pick you up exactly where you are. If in doubt, choose the lower level or send us a message. A solid foundation is the key to real flow on the trail.

🚴 Level 1: Beginner / beginner

  • You are new to mountain biking or have only had experience on paved trails. Trails are still uncharted territory for you and you want to learn the basics to be safe and confident on the trail.

    • Driving straight ahead on level ground

    • Basic braking and stopping

    • Simple bends on paved paths

    • Uncertainty on uneven ground

    • Fear of slopes and inclines

    • Difficulties with balance on narrow trails

    • Uncertainty about the correct body position

    • Basic position on the bike (neutral riding position)

    • Safe braking (using the front and rear brakes correctly)

    • Balance and equilibrium on the trail

    • First cornering technique (eye tracking, body position)

    • Safe driving on gentle slopes

    • Overcoming small obstacles (roots, small stones)

  • Ride safely and confidently on easy trails (marked blue) and master the basics of riding technique.

  • Wide forest trails with gentle gradients, easy single trails without technical challenges, well-groomed beginner trails.

🚴‍♀️ Level 2: Slightly advanced

  • You have already gained some trail experience and feel confident on easy trails. Now you want to refine your technique and tackle more challenging trails.

    • Safe riding on easy single trails

    • Basic cornering technique

    • Controlled braking even on downhill gradients

    • Overcoming small obstacles

    • Steeper descents still give you respect

    • Tight bends and hairpin bends are difficult

    • Larger roots and stones slow down your flow

    • Uncertainty at higher speeds

    • Active riding position (weight shift, pressure on the pedals)

    • Cornering technique for tighter and steeper bends

    • Safe driving on medium gradients

    • Overcoming larger obstacles (thick roots, steps)

    • First drops and small jumps

    • Optimize eye tracking and line selection

  • Ride smoothly and with more flow on moderately difficult trails (marked red) and master technical passages safely

  • Single trails with roots and stones, moderate gradients, first technical sections, flowing forest trails.

🚵 Level 3: Advanced

  • You regularly ride trails and have mastered the basic techniques. Now you want to take your skills to the next level and master challenging trails with confidence.

    • Safe riding on moderately difficult trails

    • Good cornering technique, even on steep terrain

    • Overcoming obstacles in the flow

    • Controlled descents at higher speeds

    • Steeper and technical descents

    • Tighter hairpin bends in steep terrain

    • Landing larger drops and jumps safely

    • Optimal line selection in technical passages

    • Riding in difficult terrain (boulder fields, steep root passages)

    • Maintain speed and flow even in more challenging sections

  • Ride confidently and with flow on demanding trails (marked in black) and master technical challenges with ease.

  • Technical single trails with rocky sections, steeper descents, Northshore elements, more challenging bike parks.
